Clean Fuels 2 TAME Improvement Roadmap

TAME is a high value and high octane blending component in the Secunda Operations fuel pool. By improving TAME production at Unit 79, it allowed flexibility improvements within the Secunda fuel blending strategy. Debottlenecking work included complex engineering and a fourth reaction bed installation.

During the TAME statutory shutdown, a decision was made to keep 78VL-101 online which enabled the supply of valuable co-monomers to the market during the shutdown period. Congratulations to the team for executing the shutdown safely whilst a part of the unit was online – the focus and hours of preparation is indicative of this team truly living up to the Sasol aspirational culture!
