MegChem is pleased to announce the appointment of Wessel van Zyl as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1st July 2025.
Wessel steps into the role after serving as the head of MegChem’s Project Management Business, where he oversaw a diverse portfolio that included the Engineering, Project, and Construction Management units, as well as the MegChem Vaal Triangle and Airport Fuel Infrastructure Business Units. His deep technical knowledge and strategic leadership have been instrumental in driving complex projects to successful completion.
With a career spanning several decades, Wessel brings a wealth of experience in metallurgical and corrosion engineering, along with a strong background in multi-discipline engineering and project management. His ability to integrate technical expertise with business strategy makes him uniquely positioned to lead MegChem into its next chapter of growth and innovation.
Wessel’s academic credentials reflect his commitment to continuous learning and excellence. He holds a B.Eng in Metallurgical Engineering from North-West University (1995), a B.Eng Hons in Metallurgical Engineering (2000), and a M.Eng in Engineering Management (2012), both from the University of Pretoria.
