MegChem Powers the Kosmos 3-in-1 Marathon: A Day of Energy, Endurance, and Excellence!
On March 8, 2025, the highly anticipated Kosmos 3-in-1 Marathon took place at Lake Umuzi, with MegChem proudly serving as the title sponsor. This unique 73.3 km race, broken down into three segments—a 42.2 km marathon at 6:00 AM (a Comrades Marathon qualifier), a 21.1 km half marathon at 1:00 PM, and a 10 km race at 5:00 PM—saw over 5,000 athletes for all corners of the country and neighboring countries take on the challenge.
A High-Energy Atmosphere at the Finish Line
MegChem not only sponsored the event but also played a vital role in ensuring that every runner felt welcomed and supported at the finish line. Our enthusiastic team manned the finish line water point, creating an electric atmosphere as they cheered for every athlete crossing the line.
Beyond just ice-cold water, we provided a variety of refreshments to help athletes recover, including bananas, jelly babies, Coca-Cola and Sparletta Crème Soda. Runners also had access to cold, wet facecloths and Deep Heat and Deep Freeze sprays to soothe sore muscles. In partnership with Highveld Mediclinic, ER24 was on standby at the finish line, ensuring that medical assistance was readily available to any participant in need. Aquelle also handed out their VIV sports drinks and Flavored water keeping hydration levels high throughout the day.
A Celebration of Success
The event kicked off with an inspiring speech from MegChem’s Managing Director, Pieter Neethling, who set the tone for an exciting and rewarding day. Later, he took part in the evening’s main prize-giving ceremony, where, in addition to prize money, athletes were gifted specially curated goodie bags filled with treats and essentials.
