Celebrating Mandela Day 2024: Making a Difference Together
Every year on July 18th, South Africans and people worldwide honor Nelson Mandela’s legacy through acts of service, embodying his values and dedication to social justice and community upliftment. This year, our MegChem Centurion Office once again exemplified this spirit through their support for Blessed by Angels, a local organization committed to aiding struggling families.
Continuing a Tradition of Giving
For Mandela Day 2024, the we chose to continue our tradition from the previous year by donating food parcels to Blessed by Angels. This organization, a steadfast presence in the Centurion community for the past eight years, focuses on providing weekly food and toiletry hampers to 104 families, with family sizes ranging from two to eight members.
The effort was a collaborative one, involving contributions from MegChem’s Executive Committee (EXCO) and the Centurion Office employees. Their combined generosity resulted in the assembly and donation of 24 food parcels for small families, 6 parcels for larger families, and 3 baby hampers.
Making an Impact
The donations made a significant impact, providing much-needed relief to numerous families. The small food parcels and baby hampers addressed the immediate needs of these families, ensuring they had access to essential food and toiletries. The success of this initiative is a testament to the collective effort and compassion of the MegChem team.
A Team Effort
Key contributors to this year’s Mandela Day initiative included Rendani Ramaru, Kealeboga Motlhankane, Yolanda Kgoete, Rolien Coetzee, Queen Mollo, Helena Snyman, Hannelie Milliës, and Sanmarie Lamprecht from Blessed by Angels. The continued support from MegChem’s EXCO was instrumental in facilitating this significant donation.
