MegChem employees getting ready for Mandela day
This year the MegChem Centurion Office had the opportunity to participate in Mandela Day 2018. Joining the team from Feed a Child, a non-profit organization, we visited Kearabetswe Day Care in Olievenhoutbosch.
Angelina Maleke (Mamaleke as she is known to the children), started the day care in 2009, she also celebrated her 75th birthday on Mandela Day. Today there are 35 children, aged from 3 months to 5 years looked after by three caretakers.

When we first arrived, we were greeted by very excited children.
The MegChem team quickly got busy painting the exterior of the Day-Care.

Many hands, light work!

We rise by lifting others.
After all the hard work, it was time to spoil the children.Blankets, chips and cooldrinks sponsored by MegChem personnel where handed out to the children.
Feed a Child also celebrated Mamaleke’s birthday by sponsoring cake and arranging for the painting of the little ones faces. Another company donated rubber floor tiles to brighten up the kid’s classrooms.
Nelson Mandela once said, “There can be no greater gift than that of giving one’s time and energy to helping others without expecting anything in return”.
After spending just a few hours with the children and personnel from Kearabetswe Day Care, the MegChem team can certainly understand what Nelson Mandela meant with these words. You don’t need a reason to help people.
It was an honour and a privilege to be part of something so small for us, but so big for the children and Mamaleke.
